#32 Beauty Neither Here Nor There

Beautiful, I call it not,

lest against my hand it rests.

For naming thus, I complement

what matter I can’t claim.

And beautiful, I call it not,

If against my hand it rests.

For greater beauty yet is due

from higher straits of fame.

So happiness lies out of reach

with beauty neither here nor there.

But masters of contentment know -

it's giving up the game.
