Set the Night Singing #2.39

Twilight slips onto the stage.

The play hall hushing, players rushing,

one conductor turns a page.

Cicadas sing,

a planet lights.

Sphere music ringing,

Venus - singing -

leads the promenade of flights.

His arms stretched wide, the great sun falls.

The blackness blushing, silver flushing,

stars, by thousands, deck the halls.

Night winds skate

in wild dance,

treetops riling,

beasts beguiling,

sharp teeth shine, night walkers prance.

'Till in the East, the deepness bends

sly hunters slinking, star eyes winking -

fresh, the sun, king-cloaked, ascends.
