Soaring Shadows

Every corner, smooth horizon.

Round world twisting,

Mountains softened.

Dark for water, dark for breathing.

Icy, sandy, salty, airy,

Perfect-pitched to slant the sunny

Stars and paint the greenlands merry.

I stand shoreward, looking seaward,

Black reflected in the ocean.

Stillness

Makes the Earth a trickster.

Variation, changing, winging,

Bending worlds unfold new days.
