A Fish on the Top of the Sea
I'm a fish living on top of the sea.
Wind hardens my scales. Light blinds my eyes.
Storms shudder my nerves. Electricity stings.
But this is the Earth infusing its waking,
the Earth giving peace
the Earth giving truth felt at the level of bone.
Many seek solace in the water's blinding depths.
Those reaches sing of Oblivion.
For what peace is there in delusion?
To refuse sensing
To deny knowing -
It's the momentary succor of a sweet lie.
