Witching the Stars #25

Updated: Oct 31

Why must life forfeit

that life might dawn see?

The flower, at soldiers’ feet, spun to rest

casts light that foreshadow be.

Foreshadow of sight disappearing from eyes,

of lifeblood-washed battlefields;

ships' final flight -

their venturing

confining to mere memory:

life.
